Stewed Plums

Each week, along with the CSA, I receive a newsletter from Strites’ about what is in the CSA and recipes for the items in the CSA.  This week, the newsletter had a recipe for stewed plums.  It was too good to pass up.  I adapted the recipe to be sugar free and instead added ¼ cup of honey.  It turned out very sweet, so use 1/8 cup of honey for a more tart stew.  The plums also look and smell beautiful as they’re cooking.plumscooking

Stewed plums are actually very versatile.  I served it on top of oatmeal, but it can also be served with toast, waffles, yogurt, cake, or even ice cream.  It’s a great addition to breakfast, lunch, or dinner!  It will store in the fridge for up to a week, if it lasts that long!

Stewed Plums

  • Servings: 2-4
  • Difficulty: easy

Stewed Plums


– 2 cups plums, quartered with pits removed

– ⅛-¼ cup honey

– 1 tsp vanilla

– 1 tsp cinnamon


  1. Combine all of the ingredients in a small sauce pan and bring to a boil.
  2. Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
  3. Enjoy!
